Second to last market of the season
This Saturday marks the second to last market day of the 2014 season, and you know what that means – it’s time to stock up on all of your favorite goodies at the Falls Market Farmers Market!
There’s still time to get your apples, broccoli, squash, garlic, cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, radishes, baked goods, meats, pastas, and of course the autumn staple – pumpkins! Whether you carve them, use them as fall décor or turn them into pie, get pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes this Saturday!
Although this will be our last email of the year, our final market day will be October 25. It’s been another great season, and we’d like to thank you for your tremendous support. Without people like you supporting buying local, the Falls Park Farmers Market wouldn’t possible! So please enjoy the final two market days of the season, and we’ll see you next year!
With more than 2,500 varieties of apples grown in the US, you’re sure to find at least one that pleases your palette. An apple tree takes 4-5 years before it starts producing apples – that means these treats are worth waiting for!
Calm down! The nutrients and vitamins in celery are thought to provide a good night’s sleep and a calming effect, so next time you’re searching for a midnight snack – head straight for this crunchy stalk.
Sweet Potatoes are a great snack – all of them! You can eat the whole plant including the leaves, and stems. As part of the Clean 15 these tubers have a potential exposure to toxins that is lower than other produce.
